The DOC best know as ghostwriter for many of Dr Dre verses was once considered on par with Rakim. Due to complications of a horrible traffic accident The DOC lost his voice and halted his recording career. He eventually tried to comeback with his altered voice but compared to his debut album his later works just didn’t measure up.
With this month’s reworks I tried to capture some of excitement of hearing The DOC debut album back in 1989.
I included a verse from New Zealand/Palestinian emcee Imagine This. Back in 2014 he released a superb album then slowly faded with sporadic releases.
Along with verses by Da Bush Babeez Lee Majors, newcomer Nejama Neferrti and highly overlooked emcee/producer Dred Scott I tried to mesh The DOC’s style with a variety of artists .
Lastly , this will be the last featured artist set of reworks. Going forward I will lean more towards Bboy breaks with an occasional new set of “Mister 21 Creations”
