I hit you with a remix to a classic Hip Hop track today.
Philadelphia’s Three Times Dope dropped this track in January of 1989. Featuring one my favorite drums breaks The Jam by Graham Central Station.
Something I didn’t know before researching this track was EST, the frontman of Three Times Dope, cowrote Destiny’s Child 2005 hit Cater 2 U. Along with Beyonce’s Naughty Girl, Me, Myself And I and Baby Boy
Listening to this track makes feel nostaglic for the days of 80’s Hip Hop when every track wasn’t about smoking weed, banging girls or how many people you claim to killed. As I get older, although I still listen and find great Hip Hop joints released in today’s era, my tolerance for hearing a 4 minute track about those subjects is waning.
In any case enjoy this classic remix to a classic track.
Lastly, there is a great and hilarious cover of this joint by Styles of Beyond entitled Dunky Fividends off their 2012 album Reseda Beach that should add your playlist as well.
